The Chebucto Community Singers were formed in 1974 under the leadership of Kaye Pottie. An SATB choir of 50+ members, sings a repertoire of folk, pop, gospel, classical to Broadway music.
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm at Hillside United Church, 12 Flamingo Drive, Halifax, usually from mid-September to mid-May. The choir normally performs 3-4 concerts per year.

Patricia Guy Tupper
Patricia Guy Tupper has been a Music Educator since 1980, performing roles as Music Teacher, Classroom Teacher and most recently as School Administrator. Throughout her varied career, she has always sung in and conducted choirs in her spare time. From the earliest days of her undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University, she has taught singing at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, taught in various schools and has conducted numerous children’s choirs. Patricia has sung in and conducted many adult church choirs throughout the Halifax area. As a student, Patricia was hired to train 20 non singing dancers to sing for the national traveling show of ‘Meet the Navy’. She was appointed Apprentice Conductor of the Dalhousie Chorale, and was the first recipient of the Don Wright Scholarship for excellence in choral conducting.
Susan MacKinnon
A former music educator with the HRM, Susan holds a B.Mus.Ed., with a major in piano from Dalhousie University. She has worked as a piano accompanist for many years working with school, church and community choirs as well as vocalists and instrumentalists. Susan has accompanied the Seton Choir from 2003 – 2011, the Nova Scotia Youth Choir, Youth Honour Choir, High Cs Choral Festival choir and others. She was choir director at Grace Chapel Halifax 1983-2000 and West End Baptist Church choir from 2012-2020 and has worked as accompanist with Jubilate Singers since 2022. Susan has been the piano accompanist for the Chebucto Community Singers since 1980.
